While Hot Legal Tips is meant to be a platform for scholarly legal and legal-field-related authorial expression, there are a few guidelines we ask our submitters for follow to keep our community educational, analytical, and free of spammy or slanderous content. Please review the submission parameters below and be sure the content you wish to publish meets each outlined guideline:

  1. Hot Legal Tips reviews all guest article submissions on an continual basis.
  2. Articles must cover issues of current interest or general useful information to a legal and/or business audience (e.g., cases, policies, deals, trends, debates, FAQs).
  3. All content including analysis, opinions and expressions of the author must be original.
  4. Articles must be well written and of proper grammar.
  5. Hot Legal Tips does not publish rants, promotional pieces, accolade announcements or otherwise advertorial material.
  6. Articles may not contain slanderous or derogatory comments about any person, firm, or organization.
  7. Articles should be between 500 and 1,000 words. Longer works are considered on a case by case basis.
  8. Articles must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (no PDFs).
  9. Author submitted photos will not be accepted or published with article.
  10. The article must not have been previously published. Once published on Hot Legal Tips, an article cannot be republished anywhere else.
  11. While not required, If citations are included, they should be in the form of endnotes.
  12. Hot Legal Tips reserves the right to edit articles for spelling, grammar and punctuation in keeping with AP style and Hot Legal Tips style, and to change headlines, as needed to fit site formatting. Maximum headline length is 65 characters (including spaces).
  13. While the author retains copyright to his or her article, Hot Legal Tips reserves the right to republish parts or all of an article indefinitely without any royalty payments.
  14. Hot Legal Tips does not pay for guest articles, nor does it charge for publishing.
  15. Once an article is published, we may be unable to honor requests to modify it, including for reasons of employee hires or departures, etc.
